MLK Labor Statement on SPOG Contract

October 15, 2018

SPOG Contract Will Provide a Much-Deserved Pay Increase for Seattle Police

MLK Labor Executive Secretary-Treasurer Nicole Grant issued the following statement after Mayor Durkan announced a tentative Seattle Police Officers Guild agreement.

“Seattle Police put their lives on the line to protect and serve our community. Like all workers, our police have the right to bargain collectively over their pay and working conditions. The labor community has been proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them during this long and tenuous contract negotiation.”

“Finally, these brave workers will get the pay they deserve while being held to a fair level of professional accountability. I commend Mayor Durkan, Chief Best, and SPOG President Kevin Stuckey for coming together to bring this historic deal over the finish line. For the sake of our community and the men and women of the Seattle Police Department, the City Council should approve their contract.”
