RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works in conjunction with the Nurse Coordinator and the Charge RN in planning, coordinating, and scheduling of surgical cases
- Obtains necessary information and schedules the proper supplies and equipment for day of and next-day surgical cases
- Provides patient-focused care through use of customer service strategies
- Communicates effectively with medical staff, patients, visitors, and other medical center departments to facilitate patient care and coordinate unit activities
- Acts as the communications center for the nursing unit: handling all unit paperwork (i.e., chart maintenance and patient information, etc.), triaging telephone calls, accessing and entering information in computer programs and participating in non-nursing activities
- Exercises independence in the planning and accomplishment of a wide spectrum of clerical duties
- Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment
