  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responds promptly, courteously, and professionally to phone and written inquiries from clients about test information, results, and other related information
  • Participates toward the goal of providing enhanced services to the clients of the department.  Demonstrates decision making and problem-solving ability on certain requisitions ensuring that these specimens are able to meet the test run for that day and provide results in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates effective communication with the supervisor, manager, co-workers, lab technician and all member of the Lab Med team
  • Demonstrates the ability to problem solve to expedite processing of specimens that are received mislabeled, unlabeled, missing patient data, insufficient quantity, etc. and contact clients as required.  Thereby ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of these procedures which are critical to patient care
  • Solves specimen problems in a timely, thorough and accurate manner, providing appropriate documentation for supervisor review
  • Performs continual monitoring of lab reports and pending log monitors (PLM) to verify consistency of service and troubleshoot issues
  • Understands how to use the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for problem resolution
  • Reports issues or concerns from other laboratory divisions or hospital staff through hc1 or other reporting mechanism
  • Supports COVID research testing including, pulling and storing samples as needed, troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Perform all CLT1 duties
  • Trains and supports new COVID SPS staff
  • Performs computer functions required for completions of tasks; acts as a resource to others
  • CLT2 may be expected to temporarily perform higher level duties to cover for a Lead during times of extended leave or other times of vacancies
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, work as a team member to provide maximum coverage and quality service for our clients in stressful and all situations
  • Promote and contribute to the development of teamwork within COVID SPS and working relationships between COVID SPS and other divisions in the Department
  • Perform other duties as required or as assigned by supervisor or manager
