Resolution in Support of the Labor Notes Troublemakers School

WHEREAS, The Troublemakers School aims to educate union activists in a day-long conference, equipping them with the tools and strategies to effectively organize and fight for worker rights.

WHEREAS, Attending this training will help strengthen our labor movement, build a more knowledgeable and effective rank and file membership, and aid in organizing, grievance handling, bargaining, and addressing health/safety issues.

WHEREAS, Attending this training would strengthen our solidarity between unions and provide opportunities for union members to learn from each other.

WHEREAS, There is a real and significant cost to organizing an event with a goal of about 350 union members in attendance, including $5,000 to rent the college and a significant catering cost.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that MLK Labor will endorse the Labor Notes Troublemaker’s School on October 12.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that MLK Labor will donate $500 to Labor Notes to support the event.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that MLK Labor will promote the event and encourage its affiliates’ members to attend.
