Marcus Green/South Seattle Emerald | Seattle, WA

The South Seattle Emerald was founded by Marcus Harrison Green as a local, independent publication with the mission to amplify the authentic narratives of BIPOC communities in South Seattle and King County. In 2020, with no permanent staff, Marcus led the Emerald to quadruple the number of stories, primarily focused on racial injustice, police brutality and the impacts of COVID.

He continues to freelance elsewhere to help support himself in order to add other BIPOC community journalists to the Emerald team.
