Support I-1000 to Reverse Tim Eyman’s I-200

This week, the MLK Labor Executive Board voted unanimously to reaffirm the WSLC endorsement of I-1000 which would overturn one of the most racist and sexist initiatives in Washington’s history, I-200.

I-1000 is currently in the signature gathering phase and needs our help to get on the ballot. You can help by signing I-1000 or participating in a Digital Petition Signature Drive. Click here to download a petition and collect signatures for the initiative.

Support Darigold Farmworkers

After believing that they were being denied their legally mandated workers’ rights, 12 courageous farmworkers working at Ruby Ridge Dairy, a member of Darigold, made their concerns known and filed a lawsuit to protect their rights. Instead of doing the right thing and resolving their claims, Ruby Ridge fired and countersued these impoverished workers in an attempt to keep them silent. These 12 courageous workers are the Darigold Dozen.

Workers and community and labor leaders are fasting this weekend to support these workers. You can help by making calls to Darigold suppliers or tweeting messages of support. Find out how to help at: http://darigold.ufw.org/

Help Kick Off Seattle’s Families Yes Levy Campaign

You are invited to join us for the campaign kickoff for the Families Yes Campaign to pass the Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise Levy on the November ballot in Seattle.

This Levy is essential because both the 2011 Families and Education Levy and the 2014 Seattle Preschool Program Levy will expire in December. With a victory in November we will continue to invest in our children’s success, close the opportunity gap, and ensure they are prepared for the jobs of the future.

Details for the kickoff are below. Please RSVP by clicking here.

What: Families Yes Campaign Kickoff
When: Tuesday, September 25 // 5:30-7 p.m.
Where: Farestart // 700 Virginia Street, Seattle, WA

Picket the Anti-Union Freedom Foundation in Bellevue

The Freedom Foundation is a political coalition of anti-union CEO’s. Emboldened by the Supreme Court’s recent anti-union rulings, they are ramping up their war on workers, immigrants, people of color, women, and more. This month, the Foundation is having a “Celebration of Worker Freedom” at their annual fundraiser — with right wing commentator Dinesh D’Souza as guest speaker.

Join labor and community groups outside the ritzy banquet to confront rich donors. Last year, hundreds of rank-and-file unionists turned out for a mass picket. Help make this year’s banquet an even bigger and louder protest.

RSVP to the Facebook event here.

What: Picket the Anti-Union Freedom Foundation
When: Friday, September 28 // 4:30-8:30 p.m.
Where: Hilton Bellevue // 300 112th Ave SE, Bellevue
