Job Skills / Requirements

  • A Special Response Officer is required to accept either an AM (0600-1900), PM (1800-0700), or a Restricted four (4) day on-call schedule. During their periods or days the SRO is expected to make themselves available to respond to On-Call schedules.
  • Special Response Officers must have reliable transportation.
  • Special Response Officers must pass all required training outlined in the program and will follow the Post Orders for each site.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and/or drive for up to 90% of an 8-12 hour shift (There may be times when an officer is required to work over 12 hours straight to meet the operational needs of the Company)
  • Must be able to operate a cell phone, computer and all required office equipment
  • Must be able to hand write/type reports, respond to emails, phone calls, texts, reading/writing detailed reports throughout the entire shift assignment
  • Must be able to run and climb stairs without assistance
  • Must be able to walk up/down steep inclines surrounding job site
  • Must be able to repetitively open heavy glass and metal doors
  • Must be able to grasp, manipulate, and interact with needed tools and objects on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds (opening & closing roll up doors)
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to outside elements including inclement weather for up to an 8-12 hour shift
  • Must have sufficient hearing to respond to normal verbal speech, alarm signals, radio and telephone communications
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read and understand tenant rosters, employee listings, post orders, maps, computer screens to check identification (such as company badges or driver’s licenses), and to distinguish the faces of employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Excellent 5 star customer service at all times
  • Must have a command of the English language that is easily understood
  • Professional communication skills in verbal, electronic, and written format
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, de-escalation, and time management
  • Intermediate technology skills including general computer usage, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, other site specific software, and smartphone usage
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively
  • Professional demeanor at all times
  • Ability to work independently, while also acting as a team player
  • HS diploma or GED equivalent required

SEIU6 members are janitors who clean office buildings in King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Spokane counties and security officers in downtown Seattle, Bellevue, and greater King County suburbs. SEIU6 also represents retail workers, stadium workers, and barbers in other private sectors within our region.
