Shoreline Community College is a place of open inquiry and learning, with a campus that models ideals set out in our Community Standard*. We are committed to upholding a culture of free expression, as well as maintaining a supportive and respectful learning and working environment for all.

This is a part-time faculty position for the Learning Center North (LCN) program, which is housed in Shoreline's Transitional Studies unit and part of the Center for Education and Career Opportunities (CECO). LCN is the largest high-school dropout program in the state of Washington. We work to serve students that are under-supported and under-represented within the mainstream academic system by providing wraparound services to assist in the reduction of learning, employment, and housing barriers. LCN has more than a decade of experience serving students, and successfully transitioning more than 70% to post-secondary education and/or vocational training.

This is a co-teaching position in a lecture/lab setting with a King County instructor and uses the relational model of teaching to engage with students in a one-on-one and small group setting. The part-time faculty member will be primarily focused on increasing students' math, reading, writing, and social science skills from a pre-GED to a post-GED/college preparatory level.

In addition to teaching and record-keeping, the part-time will be responsible for assessing student personal barriers while building a relationship through the wraparound services. This is a position that coordinates heavily with King County and uses County resources to support classroom learning and student success. Additional hours may be supplemented from King County if available and requested.
