POSITION DESCRIPTION
TCC, winner of the 2020 Association of Community College Trustees Equity Award for the entire Pacific Region, invites you to apply for the position of Mathematics Professor (Tenure Track). This is a full-time tenure-track position which entails preparing and teaching lessons throughout the discipline, potentially including algebra, statistics, pre-calculus, calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations. Tacoma Community College's math courses are designed to meet the full spectrum of pathways needs for its students to include General Education, Allied Health, and STEM requirements. This position occasionally may be assigned classes to be taught on evenings or weekends, or at our Gig Harbor campus. This position reports to the Dean for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and supports the broader scope of academic pathways at TCC. This position is expected to start in Fall 2022.
- Prepare and teach courses in developmental math, algebra, statistics (including the Statway sequence), calculus, linear algebra, and/or differential equations (approximately 15 instructional contact hours per week of classes)
- Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methods including online courses, and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions including student learning outcomes
- Provide service to the College, including curriculum development and participation in College committees, shared governance, and appropriate professional development activities
- Advise and mentor students, helping them to formulate sound educational and career plans
- Participate in department, division, and college governance
- Participate in the recruitment and retention of all students
- Perform related duties as assigned
