Position Highlights
This part-time temporary position reports to the Dean of Communications & Transitional Studies and is responsible for preparing and providing integrated and contextualized instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL) and IBEST (Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training) courses  in one of the professional/technical areas of Health Information Technology, Networking and Cyber Security, Accounting, Business, Allied Health or Human Services; or in academically specific IBEST programs such as Music, Art, Psychology, Sociology, etc.

  • Provide instruction in vocationally or academically specific reading, writing, math, speaking and listening.
  • Collaborate with faculty in professional technical and academic programs, division chairs, the director of Basic Skills, and other content area experts to assist in the development of contextualized basic skills, ESL, or developmental studies curriculum that matches the goals and objectives of the particular certificate, degree or program.
  • Team-teach in a diverse classroom including basic skills students, developmental education, second language learners and first generation college students.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with team teacher, program chair and Career Pathway Coordinator/Navigator to ensure streamlined program for students
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to the needs of learners.
  • Assist in developing, assessing and analyzing program outcomes for the purpose of program improvement and enhanced student learning.
  • Prepare and distribute a quarterly course syllabi appropriate for the level of the student population and submit weekly attendance in accordance with state board reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with team teacher to develop and conduct end of the quarter. assessments in accordance with program and state assessment policies
  • Participate in division, department and IBEST meetings, in-service and team teacher trainings and curriculum development.
  • Provide availability and accessibility to students for the purpose of academic consulting and support, in a manner appropriate to meet student needs, through a combination of scheduled office hours, e-mail accessibility and other effective means of responsive and timely communication.
  • Uphold and enforce program and college rules and policies in a fair manner.
  • Keep current professionally maintain a knowledge base in adult learning, content areas, and college and community resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
