Job Summary/Basic Function:
Nestled between the scenic Cascade Mountains and Puget Sound in an increasingly diverse and fast-growing region of the country, Everett Community College is seeking a tenure-track English instructor to begin serving in the Fall quarter of 2022. Successful applicants will join a cluster of new faculty hires dedicated to supporting equity and social justice at EvCC.

Primary responsibilities for English instructors at EvCC include teaching first year English writing/ composition courses using a variety of lecture, discussion, demonstration, self-paced, technology-based, distance-learning, and collaborative formats.

Through our Guided Pathways Advising model, full-time faculty also serve as program advisors for students. Faculty in these areas are assigned a caseload each year in line with the AFT Faculty Contract. These duties include, but are not limited to, building and maintaining professional relationships with advisees to support them in their goals, creating, reviewing and approving academic plans; providing career and/or transfer advice; and making referrals to appropriate EvCC support services.

The position reports to the Dean of Communication and Social Sciences.

Other specific duties include the following:

  • develop and coordinate curriculum to improve student success and retention in English writing/composition;
  • identify and implement procedures/techniques to assess individual student learning, as well as course, program, and college learning outcomes;
  • maintain regularly scheduled office hours for the purpose of assisting, advising, and mentoring students enrolled in English courses;
  • assist with the development of curriculum to meet the changing educational needs of students;
  • provide faculty professional development in working with writers;
  • collaborate with faculty and staff on department, division and campus-wide projects;
  • participate in all other tasks related to instruction in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement and College policies.
