What you will be working on:

  • Teach upper division computer science courses in the Computer Science BS program using appropriate teaching strategies that promote effective learning for all students; these classes may be scheduled to meet in-person and/or online, with classes scheduled at times based on program needs, including evening classes
  • Apply teaching philosophy and practices that embody Seattle Colleges' values of equity, diversity and inclusion with an emphasis on eliminating equity gaps in student success and completion especially among underserved and underrepresented populations of students.
  • Engage in continuous growth and improvement of teaching through evaluations, assessments, data, and both individual and collaborative reflection
  • Lead and work collaboratively with faculty and staff colleagues on curriculum development to create an educational environment that affirms commitment to equity and diversity, while applying awareness and understanding of historically underserved populations.
  • Serve as a mentor or connection to the college for students to feel fully supported by and engaged in the North Seattle College community, and engage in efforts to improve student confidence, persistence, and success.
  • Take the lead on envisioning and implementing the development of the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree at North Seattle College with an emphasis on eliminating equity gaps in student success and increasing the diversity of the workforce holding degrees in Computer Science.
  • Take on a leadership role in building internal and external relationships in support of computer science-related activities, curriculum, and issues; this includes support for recruitment and convening of an Advisory Committee of industry professionals and leading other departmental, college, or district-wide projects.
  • Take the lead on assessing the impact of program development and implementation, and devise plans for improvement.
  • Meet all professional obligations as described in the faculty union agreement.
