Position Summary

This position will include a flexible teaching schedule to cover classes during the day, evening and distance learning. Hiring for this position is contingent on funding. The Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC)/Manufacturing instructor will teach beginning through advanced Manufacturing courses with an expertise in Basic Skills. Courses taught include introductory through advanced CNC and may include Industrial Safety, Material Science, Precision Measurement and Tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Instruct beginning and advanced manufacturing courses. Some courses may be taught in an I-BEST format which means they will be team taught with an instructor with expertise in basic skills. Primary courses of instruction include, but are not limited to:
  • Introduction to Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Operations;
  • Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) Basics;
  • Advanced Computer Numeric Control (CNC);
• Other potential courses of instruction may include:
  • Introduction to Manufacturing;
  • Industrial Safety and CPR;
  • Material Science in Manufacturing;
  • Precision Measurement and Tools;
• Work collaboratively with co-instructor to ensure student success;
• Develop curriculum for classroom delivery and alternative delivery methods such as distance education and on-line courses;
• Deliver culturally appropriate curriculum that reflects diversity of student experience;
• Express appropriate awareness of the history of underrepresented groups and promote an equitable work and learning environment;
• Create a positive learning environment for students using diverse teaching methods to support and enhance student success;
• Provide student and collegial support through developing and assessing learning outcomes;
• Integrate Skagit Valley College General Education Learning Values in curriculum;
• Monitor, document and advise students in meeting their educational goals;
• Maintain regular office hours;
• Participate in college committees and department meetings.
