Position Summary

Skagit Valley College is accepting applications for associate faculty to teach in our Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Management (BASAM) program. The BASAM program has two tracks: general management and health care management.  Potential classes include Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Law. The program prepares students who hold an associate degree with contextualized instruction for managerial careers. The BASAM program operates on a cohort model and follows a spiral instructional design. The spiral design means that curriculum is integrated within each quarter and between quarters.

Part-time faculty positions are typically filled on a quarterly basis. Part-time faculty are responsible for preparing and providing instruction to students in the classroom and online. BASAM courses are eligible for high demand, high wage program stipends

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction in Applied Management courses that meet defined learning outcomes, following BASAM program design principles;
  • Create a positive learning environment for students using diverse teaching methods to support and enhance student success;
  • Deliver culturally appropriate curriculum that reflects diversity of student experience;
  • Express appropriate awareness of the history of underrepresented groups and promote an equitable work and learning environment;
  • Develop and provide class syllabi to students and academic office;
  • Assess, monitor and document student performance;
  • Work collaboratively with other program faculty teaching courses that quarter;
  • Recommend modifications and improvements to course and program design;
  • Fulfill part-time faculty responsibilities in accordance with the negotiated agreement and Skagit Valley College policies.
