Boeing Commercial Airplanes has an exciting opportunity for Parts Straighteners to join our teams located in Auburn, Washington!
The Parts Straightener position sets up, operates and adjusts a variety of mechanical and hydraulic controlled straightening presses, or use manual hand tools to form, straighten and flatten high quality close tolerance parts and materials, as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Obtain work package from ready to work rack, as delivered to work station, or assigned by team leader, supervisor, or run previously set-up job by reviewing tie-in from prior operator.
- Review Work Order (W/O) and Production Order number (P/O) to determine requirements of work to be performed. Ensure that the correct type and quantity of parts/material were issued and that prior operations are complete.
- Obtain and review appropriate drawings, Boeing (BAC) specifications and any other necessary documents to perform the job. Use on-line information systems, as required.
- Check machine set-up and/or parts completed by previous operator to determine progress on a job per prior shift tie-in and ensure safe working conditions, as required. Select machine accessories and holding devises (e.g., ram heads, riser stands, blocks, clamps, shims). Verify that apparatus is in good condition. Identify shop aids and/or holding fixtures to be used, as required.
- Attach machine accessories, tools, fixtures, and shop aids using bolts, wrenches and clamps.
- Move parts/material to the work area using overhead cranes, electric stackers, pallet jacks, as required. Ensure spreader bar is safely attached for long parts/material. Ask for assistance from co-workers as needed.
- Insert or load material to be formed/straightened, using a hydraulic press, arbor hand press, or manual tools. Check pressure gauge/travel indicator and make adjustments, as required.
- Check parts to ensure that forming/straightening operations are completed within tolerances per drawing and BAC specifications, use check fixture, or contour template, as required.
- Clean and/or deburr parts, using appropriate tools (e.g. hand file, dotco, and/or denatured alcohol, pneumatic hand tools) before or after forming/straightening operation, as required.
- Contact supervisor/team leader, or Subject Matter Expert (SME) with questions, when assistance is needed or when any problem arises.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous material in approved manner (e.g., solvents, rags).
- Round out ends or remove surface blemishes (e.g., scratches, gouges, nicks, dents), using shop aid blocks, hammers, sandpaper, scotchbrite, as required.
- Maintain personal and tool certifications, as required.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Currently able to speak, read and write fluent English.
- Capable of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 35 pounds.
- Windows 10 and Microsoft Office knowledge.
- Apply mathematical calculations.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
Typical Education:
High school graduate or GED preferred.
Relocation:
This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
Shift:
This position is for 2nd shift.

This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement.
