Resolution Supporting the Green New Deal Oversight Board’s 2027-28 Recommendations

WHEREAS, the Green New Deal Oversight Board was formed to make recommendations about how a portion of Jumpstart Tax revenue could advance a Green New Deal in the City of Seattle. The Board is comprised of representatives from Labor, impacted communities, Environmental Justice, Climate, green buildings, Tribes, workforce training, and youth.

WHEREAS, The Board’s 2027-2028 budget recommendations include multiple items that could help boost union renewable energy jobs, including support for low-carbon concrete, mechanical insulation inspections, and district energy systems.  The Labor representatives on the Board also support the other budget items that have been championed by other Board members.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, MLK Labor shall send a letter to the Seattle Mayor and members of the Seattle City Council urging them to adopt and fully fund the Green New Deal Oversight Board’s 2027-2028 budget recommendations.
