King County Parks is seeking a skilled Plumber to join our highly productive maintenance team that provides excellent service to users of King County properties. This position is responsible for performing journey-level plumbing duties including maintaining, repairing, modifying and constructing plumbing, mechanical and structural systems in King County Parks facilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced journey level plumber join our multi-faceted trades team that provides an opportunity to work on historical buildings and facilities along with new projects. This position requires the capability to respond to shifting priorities all while accomplishing daily tasks in a safety sensitive work environment.

Job Duties

  • Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing system components. Repair and replace plumbing systems as needed.
  • Design, lay-out and install waste, vent and domestic water systems.
  • Mount/install plumbing fixtures, trim and related hardware/accessories.
  • Maintain plumbing fixtures from source to local sewer systems.
  • Estimate and evaluate plumbing projects.
  • Test and certify backflow assemblies.
  • Ability to work on low pressure gas and propane.
  • Respond to trouble calls, customer complaints, equipment failures, and work requests.
  • Plan, design, construct and coordinate smaller construction projects.
  • As part of a review team, review CIP plans for functionality and standardization.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as: septic tanks and potable water tanks.

 

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Washington State Plumbers License
  • Backflow Testing License (can obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Must have ability to perform physically demanding tasks including, bending, kneeling, standing, reaching, climbing, stooping, squatting, and twisting on a regular basis.

The Most Competitive Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience in installation and maintenance of domestic water, wastewater and vent systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of uniform plumbing code.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with sewage systems, septic pumps, tanks, and drain fields.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of brazing/soldering techniques.
  • Experience and skill in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Experience and skill in using tools typical of the plumbing trade.
  • Demonstrated skill in troubleshooting, analyzing, and problem solving.

 

Supplemental Information

Working Conditions:
Work Location:  Temporary reporting options available until our Central Maintenance Facility in Renton is constructed. Once construction is complete (sometime in 2025) the reporting location will be 3005 NE 4th Ave, Renton WA.
Work Schedule: This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible. This full-time position works Monday-Thursday 4/10 hours days.
Union Representation: This position is represented by United Association of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local No. 32
