SUMMARY:ATU 587 Rally Against Solid Ground
DESCRIPTION:ATU 587 is the union representing drivers for King County Metro and Sound Transit. Solid Ground is a subcontractor for MV Transportation which contracts with King County Metro. Solid Ground workers have been working without a contract since February. To make matters worse\, they never received federal money that was promised to all transit workers under the American Rescue Plan.\n\nJoin them for a rally on Thursday\, October 6 at 2 pm at the South Park Community Center (8319 8th Ave S\, in Seattle). This rally will be attended by ATU International President John Costa so it would be great to see a good turnout and send a strong message to the company.

DESCRIPTION:Starbucks is hosting a “Founders Day” event on Wednesday\, March 22 to celebrate CUB (Chief Union Buster)\, Howard Schultz. So we’re gonna have a party that celebrates the real founders of Starbucks’ progressive values – the workers. Come show your support! \nAbout the action\n  \nIn 2022\, Starbucks Partners formed Starbucks Workers United. Workers have joined together\, raised their voices\, cast ballots\, and gone on strike to demand Starbucks respect their right to a union so they have a voice over pay\, scheduling\, and more. \nStarbucks management\, which posted $3.3 billion in profits last year\, has responded with threats\, intimidation\, firings\, store closings\, and refusing to bargain in good faith–becoming the most prolific union buster in U.S. history. \nNLRB judges have found at least 127 violations of federal labor law\, with over 1000 more alleged violations still being adjudicated\, for\, among other things\, threatening\, intimidating\, and firing hundreds of worker leaders. This runs counter to Starbucks’ carefully-cultivated image of a progressive company.
